Soil and Natural Resources

Land will be cut and rock will be blasted to make way for the construction of main road 6. However, more ground material is needed to build the road than can be obtained from the area.  Therefore, all stone and rock material will be utilised as well as possible. The rest of the land mass required will be obtained from locations as close as possible.

Furthermore, the concrete obtained from the demolished bridges and the asphalt to be removed will be utilised, whenever possible. Compost processed at the waste management centre will be utilised in the soil.

To the best of our knowledge, there is no contaminated ground in the area of the road construction work. In case suspected contaminated ground is discovered during construction, such sites will be investigated and the contaminated ground will be treated in suitable ways, ensuring that the surrounding areas are kept safe from contamination.
